I live in a small community and I have neighbors to the north of me who have I think 5 dogs. Our city code for animals is that you can only have 3 dogs, unless you have a shelter license. I have a shelter/rescue license, but I only have my 2 dogs. I don’t know if my neighbors have one or not. The difficult part about them is that they let their dogs come and go out of their house and they bark constantly when I am out in my backyard, so much that I HATE going in my backyard because that’s all they do. Its a see through fence, bout 4 feet high. I think i’m a good neighbor. I don’t let my dogs bark constantly. I yell at them to be quiet because I don’t want that to happen to me. But my neighbors never yell at their dogs to be quiet. So I’ve tried spraying them with water to get them to stop. Doesn’t work. My other neighbors even went to the point of putting up a 6 foot privacy fence because the dogs would bark at them as well. I went and bought a Dazer 2. Its a ultrasonic repelling dog Deterrent Trainer. Produces a discomforting but not harmful high powered sound, audible to dogs but not to humans. It helps stop the approach of unwanted dogs at up to 20 feet. Also a useful aid in training dogs. I’ve used it on my dogs to train them, it works. I used it on the neighbor dogs and the neighbor saw me use it. I tried to explain to him it doesn’t hurt them, but he didn’t care. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to call the cops on them for being a nuisance. I’d really like to put up a privacy fence, but I don’t know if my landlords would go for that, plus it costs money. Any suggestions or advice would be great. I’m open to everything. Thanks!
There are several dogs in the neighborhood that get out there and have bark-athons. And their barking excites my dogs so then they bark! I really just want to prevent my dogs from being a nuisance. I’ve tried the Bark-Off (the one that they show on tv) but it didn’t work at all!
My brother’s dog is quite a nuisance lol He is about 6 1/2 months old and is a mix breed of husky shepherd beagle and collie, so he’s quite a big dog already. he is always extremely hyper and can be quite load when he’s running through the house. on top of that he can never be left alone cause he will chew and destroy anything he can get to. The other day we all went out and we chained him up in the kitchen. When we got back, he got into all the Tupperware and chewed it all up and he also got to the Christmas lights in the window! My bro also mentioned that he got to his futon bed as well and ripped two holes in that.
His dog is out of control. We need to train him properly to get him out of these habits. what can we do?
Also, what to recommend to train for barking? I don’t like the idea of a shock collar [i found ultrasonic shcok collars if those would be better?] and was thinking of trying a muzzle.
I’m going to start keeping a little video log of my neighbor’s dog. She is a nice person, but I don’t think she is aware the torment she puts her dog through when she goes to work and leaves it outdoors and alone for 10+ hours a day. I’m afraid the dog will be poorly socialized and maladjusted. Not to mention badly behaved ie constant nuisance barking. None of it is the dog’s fault…this video is after I put up one of the ultrasonic barking dog stoppers…supposed to make dogs up to 50 feet away not want to bark.
Rats and mice and sometimes snakes can be a nuisance in a country home. One deterrent is to have a dog that is sensitive to the presence of such pests when in the house and fearless in terms of getting rid of them.
Which are the good breeds of dogs for that purpose?
What about a duchsund?
I want to set up a speaker on my side porch to play a loud ultrasonic frequency to my neighbors dog.tellmehow?
What ultrasonic frequency can I record to a CD to play at my neighbors dog from my side porch stereo. This dog has been a constant unbearable barking nuisance and I want to play it some painful frequency in response.
My dog is a very good dog. She had some behavioral issues when she was younger, but what puppy doesn’t. Anyway, these past few months, she has been so good. She doesn’t really bark anymore. I had gotten so used to her barking for no reason that when she became quiet I would get scared that something had happened to her.
Anyway, about a week ago, I received an anonymous letter. The letter stated that the writer was fed up with my dog’s "incessant non-stop all day long barking." They said that if my dog did not stop, they would contact the police department. I was extremely upset. For one thing, my dog doesn’t really bark anymore. If she does, it’s like one or two barks. Let’s just say that I rarely even hear her bark at all. If anything, there are many other dogs in our neighborhood and I hear them barking more frequently. So, I contacted the police department to see how the procedure goes and they told me not to worry, but just in case to keep a log of any dogs barking so that I can contest it in case the neighbor actually does file a complaint.
Anyway, I do not want to lose her. I know that she did have a barking problem before, but these past two months have been better for her. She is a good girl.
I have been looking into products that I could use when I am at work (this is the only time when I cannot vouch for her and say that she doesn’t bark. I do not work everyday. I only work two days a week. The problem is that the shifts are really long. I read on the instruction manual that they are not supposed to wear the collar for over 12 consecutive hours. So, any suggestions, advice, or input? I tried the ultrasonic product but it actually made her bark continuously.
Please do not leave any answers where you are criticizing me and saying how inhumane it is. I know that already. I only bought this product as a precaution. My city regulations stated that before removing a "nuisance" dog, there are a series of steps that will be done to ease the "problem." One of the solutions was a bark control collar. If her past problems are held against her, than at least I have proof that I am taking control of the situation.
I would really appreciate and encourage any stories you have of your good and bad experiences with these type of collars. Thank you.

The neighbors have been told about their dog problem. To no avail. This is a house kept "Yorkie" that can be heard all day long as the neighbors are seldom at home. I’m sure the dog is well taken care of but it barks ALL day long from inside the house.
