ultrasonic dog
I’m getting my female dog spayed in 10 days and I have about 10-15 stray male dogs in my yard basically living here like they own the place. At first I tried to chase them off but that didn’t work so well. Some of them are aggressive and mean and have charged at me once or twice but haven’t bitten me (yet). I’ve called the local animal control but I haven’t gotten a hold of anyone yet. Now I’m looking for sprays and ultrasonic sound devices but I’m not comfortable enough to buy them just in case they don’t work or they hurt the dogs. When my dog gets spayed, will that make the strays go away?
Also, how do I get rid of my dogs female smell from her first heat cycle after she gets spayed? I’ve heard that I can use pine-sol on my deck, but also that the rain will wash it away? Is this true?

complex. Management won’t do anything, police told me to call animal control, they won’t do anything until the dog gets loose and attacks me or my dog. One bite and Sassy would be dead. What is the best deterrent for a pitbull?
I am looking for real help. If the owners were reasonable people I wouldnt need your help. I have spent my whole life(70 years) around dogs and I know agressiv e behavior!

ultrasonic dog bark
Honestly, some days I dont even feel safe walking around my own neighborhood. Dogs charge at me all of the time.
I need something that will deter them completely. Im not talking about a whistle used for training your dog to stop barking; I need something that can be used as self defense against a dangerous and attacking dog. I dont care if it harms the dog or causes serious damage (its my safety over theirs).
Pepper spray has been suggested, but im worried about not being able to aim with enough accuracy given that a dog can charge at me pretty fast. Do ultrasonic devices like the dazer 2 work for repelling aggressive dogs?
If military grade dog repellent exists, then thats what I want! What do police and postal service workers use?
By the way, dont bother suggesting therapy or revising my ethics towards the treatment of attacking dogs (if a dog attacks me, it is NOT innocent). I will not even consider these suggestions.
sure, I will just call animal control as im being mauled by a dog. No. You see by the time I discover a dog that is going to attack me, animal control or law enforcement cant respond fast enough. I need to defend myself.
Again, I dont care if the dog is aggressive by nature or by the way he was trained nor do I care about how he got off his leash in the first place. Once I am being attacked, its basic survival instincts, its kill or be killed (I dont necessarily need to kill the attacking dog, its just an expression)

Oh also, I dont like the idea of hitting the dog and relying on the force of the blow. In my experience swinging or even just carrying such a weapon can be perceived by the dog as being more threatening, making it more likely to attack.

dog deterrent
This comes out in a silly string like manner (I like that it comes out like silly string instead of a spray/mist that is better for if there is wind so it doesn’t blow back on me or my dog as easily…) and reaches up to 15 feet (review said this) though the add says 10 feet…
On a regular basis we have loose dogs in my town, dogs that are not nice and run cross streets to charge you.
The main ingredient is CAPSAICIN and wiki says its from chili peppers and produces a sensation of burning in any tissue…
Do you think this would work on would be attackers (dogs)? These dogs arent trying to attack me but my dog, if that makes a difference.
(i have tried calling police, there is no animal control where i live, the owners dont care and laugh at you if you tell them their dog is loose and tried to attack yours earlier and oh there is NO leash law in the town i live in! which is NUTS!) –I know it isnt a "nice" thing to do to a dog but hey I would only use it on a dog that is trying to harm my dog. as his owner/leader i need to protect him!
Thanks best answer will be chosen!

ultrasonic dog bark
I am about to go crazy from my rude neighbors barking dog. Every morning at 5:00 a.m. she puts it out and it barks non-stop for a half an hour or more. I will buy one of these if they work. I can’t find any independent tests online.
Rescue member, thanks but no thanks. You don’t seem to have a clue. I have called the Sherriff and they say to call Animal Control who says they only come out during business hours 9-5. I have tried to speak to the rude old lady and she cussed me out. I guess her dogs need to bark is more important than my need for rest and peace of mind.
