PetSafe Collarless Ultrasonic Remote Trainer Overview – www.petsafe.net
From www.petsafe.net – An overview of the PetSafe collarless ultrasonic remote dog trainer. When the system emits its ultrasonic sound, your furry friend will understand that you want him to stop whatever he is doing. The system also has a positive tone to reward good behaviors as well as a negative tone to counter undesirable ones.

The postive button issues a tone, the negative button issues an ultrahigh frequency that is annoying to your dog. Your dog will associate the tone with a good behavior and will repeat it with proper training. The negative ultrasonic sound, your dog will assoicate with bad behavior.

You’ll need to reinforce the positive tone: hit the button, then give the dog a treat. Do this a lot and he’ll know that it is indeed positive.
However, using the negative tone when your dog wont come when you call, as the lady suggests, is just plain dumb. That’ll make the pet fear the sound of its name, and try to go FURTHER away. Coming when called can only be taught with positive reinforcement.
This training tool only works if you understand which behaviors can be taught by which method.
