A few questions. Do they work? Are they safe for the dogs? Are they cruel, does it hurt the dogs? Which devices are the best? Would you recommend for a dog with out of control barking? Any one who owns one? What do you think? Thank you very much.
Honestly, some days I dont even feel safe walking around my own neighborhood. Dogs charge at me all of the time.
I need something that will deter them completely. Im not talking about a whistle used for training your dog to stop barking; I need something that can be used as self defense against a dangerous and attacking dog. I dont care if it harms the dog or causes serious damage (its my safety over theirs).
Pepper spray has been suggested, but im worried about not being able to aim with enough accuracy given that a dog can charge at me pretty fast. Do ultrasonic devices like the dazer 2 work for repelling aggressive dogs?
If military grade dog repellent exists, then thats what I want! What do police and postal service workers use?
By the way, dont bother suggesting therapy or revising my ethics towards the treatment of attacking dogs (if a dog attacks me, it is NOT innocent). I will not even consider these suggestions.

Once I am being attacked, its basic survival instincts, its kill or be killed (I dont necessarily need to kill the attacking dog, its just an expression)

Oh also, I dont like the idea of hitting the dog and relying on the force of the blow. In my experience swinging or even just carrying such a weapon can be perceived by the dog as being more threatening, making it more likely to attack.

Some neighbors near my apartment have parrots and the croaking from these animals are driving me crazy, because they croak like 5 or 7 am, and even in the night.
My question is: is there such a device to stop birds from making croaks?

We just got a new 8 week old puppy. I know puppies are scared to be alone but I just dont know what to do. We live in an apartment, we will only be there for 1 month and 1 week b4 we move to our new house..the thing is we have a really bad neighbor. This person left a very nasty note on our door a while ago saying our older dogs were barking all day and that they slept during the day and they were going to report us for the second time to the apt office. turns out they never reported us b4 and we have never gotten any complaints the 2 yrs we have been at the apt. Plus just about every single person has a dog or two in our apt complex, and older dogs do not bark when we are gone..we have tested ita few times…so it wasn’t even our dogs.
Anyway, we dont want to get in trouble with our apt place. We tried that comfort zone plug in that gives off a mother dogs phermones but its been in a day and hasnt worked. We are trying the ultrasonic tone emitter next. Anyone have an other ideas?

What is funny too. That neighbor has dogs also and it does bark sometimes. Funny how they make complaints about other peoples dogs.
Also, my husband talked to our apartment, they said that u need 3 warnings b4 u can get kicked out. He told her we were moving in a month anyway and that if ppl complain if they could talk to us and we will do everything we can do make her quieter while we are there in the apartment complex.

Okay, I live in a garage apartment behing my brother-in-law’s house and it backs up to an alley way and then a neighbor’s fenced backyard. The mutt can’t be more than 30 yards away from me and it barks all night long at something or nothing, but I have absolutely had it. Obviously it doesn’t bother anyone else even it’s owners. What would be the appropriate action to silence that dog after hours?
A. Confront it’s owners
B. Write a letter of complaint
C. Buy an ultrasonic dog silencer
D. Shoot it with an airsoft gun or pellet gun and stun it
E. Stuff some valium in a T-bone and trow it over the fence?
F. Call the police or animal patrol?

I have the cutest tiny toy poodles (4 years old) that bark constantly when they are outside or hear a random sound in the house! I’ve have 2 different anti-bark ultrasonic devices in my house but they don’t seem to help. Any suggestions for keeping them quiet?
